This book has great information and is something I refer to when I’m really stuck in a bind. However, to me it has a lot of pros and cons which is why I only gave it 3 Stars… It’s just Ok to me and here is why.

Pros
– it has charts where you can monitor your babies development and know what percentile they are in.
– the newborn section is HUGE. Usually you have tons of questions when your baby is incredibly small and you feel helpless so this section really helps you there.
– It has FAQ’s for each month.
– If your breastfeeding there is a huge section on it.

Cons
– I could not breastfeed my child and had to formula feed her from the get go. It covers breastfeeding thoroughly however it barely covers formula feeding and some of the effects that it has on your child such as constipation, gas, how to know how much to feed your child so that you don’t over feed your child.
– Its organized in a weird way and unless you know exactly what you are looking for so that you can refer to the index you have to page through tons of information just to get one answer.
– While I know that there isn’t a one size fits all for babies when it comes to milestones you really have to read into the chapter for the month of your baby to find out what they are.

I don’t like looking things up on the internet because that can start a dangerous vortex of too much information and the reason I purchased this book is because it was highly recommended however I feel like its not organized really well and doesn’t really help those that formula feed.

Am nearing the end of this book as my baby has just now turned 1. It has some helpful information but the thing that really stood out and annoyed me is that throughout the book the author consistently uses long-dragged out sentences with LOTS AND LOTS of brackets before getting to the full-stop, just to fit in the same point or use "flowery/cute" language in a way that attempts to add some humour but really results in rising frustration as you just shout in your head "get to the point woman!!" I reckon if she just cut out all these unnecessary "fillers" the book would be a lot less thick and a much easier and less frustrating read. I’m a person who just likes to get to the point, not be told in a million ways how to do the same thing. Seriously who has the luxury of time these days? I would suggest one flips through the pages to get a sense of her writing style before purchIDg. Otherwise I like the format of being able to read through month by month what to expect as babies grow so fast during this time. Will have to look for another more CONCISE book for the upcoming toddler years unless the author can condense her words and just get to the point!

I feel like it everything I have looked up is "see your doctor" "see your doctor" This book is useless right now. Maybe as my kids get a few more months old it my use it more, or Ill just see their doctor. lol
