The Female Brain Pdf

ISBN: B000URWYT8
Title: The Female Brain Pdf
Since Dr. Brizendine wrote The Female Brain ten years ago, the response has been overwhelming. This New York Times bestseller has been translated into more than thirty languages, has sold nearly a million copies between editions, and has most recently inspired a romantic comedy starring Whitney Cummings and Sofia Vergara. And its profound scientific understanding of the nature and experience of the female brain continues to guide women as they pass through life stages, to help men better understand the girls and women in their lives, and to illuminate the delicate emotional machinery of a love relationship.

Why are women more verbal than men? Why do women remember details of fights that men can’t remember at all? Why do women tend to form deeper bonds with their female friends than men do with their male counterparts? These and other questions have stumped both sexes throughout the ages.

Now, pioneering neuropsychiatrist Louann Brizendine, M.D., brings together the latest findings to show how the unique structure of the female brain determines how women think, what they value, how they communicate, and who they love. While doing research as a medical student at Yale and then as a resident and faculty member at Harvard, Louann Brizendine discovered that almost all of the clinical data in existence on neurology, psychology, and neurobiology focused exclusively on males. In response to the overwhelming need for information on the female mind, Brizendine established the first clinic in the country to study and treat women’s brain function.

In The Female Brain, Dr. Brizendine distills all her findings and the latest information from the scientific community in a highly accessible book that educates women about their unique brain/body/behavior.

The result: women will come away from this book knowing that they have a lean, mean, communicating machine. Men will develop a serious case of brain envy.

Five Stars Great book, to better understand how hormones affect the brain, incl. childhood, puberty, motherhood and menopause.Great Insights for both Men and Women I read this book years ago and still remember some of the insights I learned from it. I bought and read the sequel "The Male Brain" and found that book equally informative about people's behaviors. I heard the author interviewed on various NPR programs, including Terry Gross' "Fresh Air" and my local public radio station KQED's program "Forum". This book and its "companion" "The Male Brain" should be delightful reading for parents, their teenage and adult kids and college freshmen, who must navigate life's challenges on their own as newly minted, liberated adults in the fast-moving, evolving environments in colleges (and universities), especially if they live on-campus or away from home (off-campus housing). These books can be used as "self-help" books are budding adults, whether they are young men, young women or young couples. Long-term couples and their parents can benefit hugely from reading this book and its companion.ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT One of the best books I've read on the difference between men and women. Not only describes what goes on in a female's brain but also in the male brain from conception thru death.EVERY adolescent girl OR boy should be required to read this by the time they get out of high school!!Read this when I was 72. Wish I could have read it when I was 18. Unfortunately Brizendine didn't get around to writing it until I was 63.

15th Affair (Women's Murder Club) Pdf

ISBN: 1455585270
Title: 15th Affair (Women's Murder Club) Pdf
Author: James Patterson
Published Date: 2016-11-08
Page: 400

James Patterson has had more New York Times bestsellers than any other writer, ever, according to Guinness World Records. Since his first novel won the Edgar Award in 1977 James Patterson's books have sold more than 300 million copies. He is the author of the Alex Cross novels, the most popular detective series of the past twenty-five years, including Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. He writes full-time and lives in Florida with his family.

When an alluring blonde with ties to the CIA disappears from a murder scene, Detective Lindsay Boxer turns to the Women's Murder Club to help her track down an elusive suspect: her husband.

As she settles into motherhood and a happy marriage, Lindsay Boxer thinks she has found domestic bliss. But when a beautiful, alluring blonde woman with links to the CIA disappears from the scene of a brutal murder at a downtown luxury hotel, Lindsay's life begins to unravel. Before she can track down the woman for questioning, a plane crash plunges San Francisco into chaos and Lindsay's husband Joe vanishes.

The deeper she digs, the more Lindsay suspects that Joe shares a secret past with the mystery blonde. Thrown into a tailspin and questioning everything she thought she knew, Lindsay turns to the Women's Murder Club for help as she tries to uncover the truth.

Filled with the pulse-pounding intrigue that has made James Patterson the world's #1 bestselling writer, 15th Affair proves that all is fair in love, war, and espionage.

Compelling Story though not always Understandable I chose 4 rather than 5 stars for several reasons: it earned at least 4 stars because of so much action - including shooting to kill - almost from the beginning of the book; however, it didn't get 5 stars because so many people were involved at the beginning that it was hard to get their names and how they fit in. What made if most difficult at the beginning is that the primary character, a young woman and homicide Sargent named Lindsay Conklin, spoke directly to the reader, making "I" statements, but the people she spoke with often didn't reciprocate and tell us her name! Lindsay has a baby at home along with a housekeeper during the day. Early on Lindsay realizes that inexplicably, she hasn't seen her husband Joe, whom she loves, for a few days, even tho often enough they work such different hours that they just meet briefly. When the days pass into a week and still Joe hasn't responded to any of Lindsay's texts or phone messages, she becomes very worried. She and we readers begin to what's going on: was their marriage a farce or is he get killed or imprisoned? Thankfully, this book had short chapters, so I had a chance to breathe and momentarily relax. Even though I couldn't always understand or picture exactly what was happening or why I relished reading this. Occasionally there were also some really good sentences; for example "Muller was watching me like a cat at the window that's spotted a bird".He lost his wedding band The 15th book in the series dedicated "to friends of the Women's Murder Club" keeps Lindsay busy with work. There are homicides to be solved, airline disasters to be dealt with, missing persons to be found, crying babies to be hushed and all that while there is a serious problem on the domestic front. Isn't this a perfect time for the club members to come to the aid of one another? We hardly hear of them! Well, there is the tequila drinking lawyer, the always busy pathologist, the journalist with the clunker and assorted police we know from before - now the scene expands considerably beyond San Francisco. Lindsay has multiple problems all over and they sort of all go together. Not exactly a clear ending despite red roses. Too many problems, too many turns, too many almost leads.but she's now turning into a pathetic ghost of herself Sgt. Boxer is giving me a headache. She's morphing into this insecure, whinny character who frets over everything. I get that she is becoming a complex character with getting married, having a child, etc etc, but she's now turning into a pathetic ghost of herself. Jimmy boy needs to have her "man up" more. Get back to that gritty, strong, smart woman she used to be.

Title: The Yes Brain Pdf How to Cultivate Courage, Curiosity, and Resilience in Your Child
Author: Daniel J. Siegel
Published Date: 2019-01-08
Page: 208

“Easily assimilated and informative, the book will help adults enable children to lead physically and emotionally satisfying and well-rounded lives filled with purpose and meaningful relationships. Edifying, easy-to-understand scientific research that shows the benefits that accrue when a child is encouraged to be inquisitive, spirited, and intrepid.”—Kirkus Reviews“This unique and exciting book shows us how to help children embrace life with all of its challenges and thrive in the modern world. Integrating research from social development, clinical psychology, and neuroscience, it’s a veritable treasure chest of parenting insights and techniques.”—Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D., author of Mindset “In today’s busy, competitive culture, allowing our children the space to be themselves is more important than ever. This book provides an escape hatch from the high-stakes mindset. It’s a parent’s guide to ensuring health, happiness, and genuine success—a blueprint for raising confident, creative kids in a fear-based world. It’s never too late to implement the science-based strategies that Dan Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson share.”—Vicki Abeles, producer and co-director, The Race to Nowhere and Beyond Measure   “Bottom line: Every parent wants to raise a strong-minded, resilient, caring child. We just don’t know exactly how; we open our mouths and we sing our parents’ tired refrain, ‘No . . . no . . . no.’ In The Yes Brain, Dan Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson teach us how to cultivate a receptive, curious brain in our children. I have never read a better, clearer explanation of the impact parenting can have on a child’s brain and personality.”—Michael Thompson, Ph.D., co-author of Raising Cain   “Today’s parents find their children’s behavior mystifying. ‘I never would have spoken that way to—or refused to cooperate with—my parents!’ Using refreshingly clear explanations of neuroscience and child development, coupled with practical, straightforward guidance, The Yes Brain arrives just in time! Siegel and Bryson lead parents and children out of puzzling impasses and into mutual understanding and appreciation. The book gives them the tools and courage needed to face the challenges of our rapidly changing world.”—Wendy Mogel, author of The Blessing of a Skinned Knee and The Blessing of a B-  “In the flurry of activity that makes up our day-to-day parenting lives, it is easy to lose sight of the big picture: we aren’t just raising children; we’re raising adults. The Yes Brain offers clear strategies for fostering balance, empathy, and self-regulation in our children to not only help them manage today’s bumps and tumbles, but to nurture in them the resources that will allow them to enjoy happy, healthy grown-up lives. An invaluable resource that I’ll be recommending to parents for years to come!”—Susan Stiffelman, MFT, author of Parenting Without Power Struggles Daniel J. Siegel, M.D., is clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, the founding co-director of the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center, and executive director of the Mindsight Institute. A graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Siegel is the author of several books, including the New York Times bestsellers Brainstorm, Mind, and, with Tina Payne Bryson, The Whole-Brain Child and No-Drama Discipline. He is also the author of the bestsellers Mindsight and, with Mary Hartzell, Parenting from the Inside Out. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, with welcome visits from their adult son and daughter. Tina Payne Bryson, Ph.D., is the co-author, with Daniel J. Siegel, of two New York Times bestsellers, The Whole-Brain Child and No-Drama Discipline. She is the founder and executive director of the Center for Connection, an interdisciplinary clinical team in Pasadena, California. She is a licensed clinical social worker, providing pediatric and adolescent psychotherapy and parenting consultations. As well, she keynotes conferences and conducts workshops for parents, educators, and clinicians all over the world. Dr. Bryson earned her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California and lives in Los Angeles with her husband and three children.

From the authors of The Whole-Brain Child and No-Drama Discipline, an indispensable guide to unlocking your child’s innate capacity for resilience, compassion, and creativity.

When facing contentious issues such as screen time, food choices, and bedtime, children often act out or shut down, responding with reactivity instead of receptivity. This is what New York Times bestselling authors Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson call a No Brain response. But our kids can be taught to approach life with openness and curiosity. When kids work from a Yes Brain, they’re more willing to take chances and explore. They’re more curious and imaginative. They’re better at relationships and handling adversity. In The Yes Brain, the authors give parents skills, scripts, and activities to bring kids of all ages into the beneficial “yes” state. You’ll learn

• the four fundamentals of the Yes Brain—balance, resilience, insight, and empathy—and how to strengthen them
• the key to knowing when kids need a gentle push out of a comfort zone vs. needing the “cushion” of safety and familiarity
• strategies for navigating away from negative behavioral and emotional states (aggression and withdrawal) and expanding your child’s capacity for positivity

The Yes Brain is an essential tool for nurturing positive potential and keeping your child’s inner spark glowing and growing strong.

Praise for The Yes Brain

Must read for ALL Parents I have read Whole Brain Child, No Drama Discipline and Parenting from the Insight Out. The Yes Brain expands on those books, but even more exciting has sections for us as parents to reflect on ourselves. I really love the exercises and cartoons, which engage my 4 year old. Definitely worth the read to help build resilience and courage! Easy to see where I can improve on seeing, hearing and being there for my kid, and nuture their inner spark. (And while working our way thru tantrums).I really found this useful. I wish I had gotten it in print ... I really found this useful. I wish I had gotten it in print as I would have tabbed it. Also, the cartoons are difficult to read in the Kindle version. I do want to go back and show them to my son (they have chapter summaries to share with your kids). The red/green/blue zone idea was key to breaking through a barrier I was facing with my son. I plan to read their other books and I hope they are as good as this one is.The tips are good and he is one of my favorite parenting experts I'm a huge Fan Siegel fan and this book just is not on the same level as his other stuff. It constantly paraphrased and mentioned his other books. I bought this for original content, not as a review of his previous content. The tips are good and he is one of my favorite parenting experts. I just wish there was newer, more original content.

Title: Blue Team Handbook Pdf SOC, SIEM, and Threat Hunting Use Cases
Author: Don Murdoch
Published Date: 2018-08-26

NOTE: As of 4/6/18, BTHb:SOCTH is rev'd to 1.02. This entry is for the first version! Direct Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1091493898 Blue Team Handbook: SOC, SIEM, and Threat Hunting Use Cases provides the security practitioner with numerous field notes on building a security operations team and mining data sources to get the maximum amount of information out of them with a threat hunting approach. The author shares his fifteen years of experience with SIEMs and security operations after implementing five major platforms, integrating over one hundred data sources into various platforms, and running a MSSP practice. This book covers the topics below using a “zero fluff” approach as if you hired him as a security consultant and were sitting across the table with him (or her). Topics covered include:•The book begins with a discussion for professionals to help them build a successful business case and a project plan, and deciding on SOC tier models. There is also a list of tough questions you need to consider when proposing a SOC, as well as a discussion of layered operating models. • It then goes through numerous data sources that feed a SOC and SIEM and provides specific guidance on how to use those data sources. Most of the examples presented were implemented in one organization or another. These uses cases explain how to use a SIEM and how to use the data coming into the platform, a question that is poorly answered by many vendors.•An inventory of Security Operations Center (SOC) Services.• Several business concepts are also introduced, because they are often overlooked by IT: value chain, PESTL, and SWOT. • Metrics, with a focus on objective measurements.•SOC staff onboarding, training topics, and desirable skills. Along these lines, there is a chapter on a day in the life of a SOC analyst. • Maturity analysis for the SOC and the log management program. • Applying a Threat Hunt mindset to the SOC. • A full use case template that was used within two major Fortune 500 companies, and is in active use by one major SIEM vendor, along with a complete example of how to build a SOC and SIEM focused use case. You can see the corresponding discussion on YouTube – search for the 2017 Security Onion conference. • Critical topics in deploying SIEM based on experience deploying five different technical platforms for nineteen different organizations in education, nonprofit, and commercial enterprises from 160 to 30,000 personnel. • Understanding why SIEM deployments fail with actionable compensators. • Real life experiences getting data into SIEM platforms and the considerations for the many different ways to provide data. • Issues relating to time, time management, and time zones. • Critical factors in log management, network security monitoring, continuous monitoring, and security architecture related directly to SOC and SIEM.• A table of useful TCP and UDP port numbers. This is the second book in the Blue Team Handbook Series. Volume One, focused on incident response, has over 32,000 copies in print and has a 4.6/5.0 review rating!Version 1.0.1 - Updated Dec 12, 2018: Minor spelling and grammar updates.
